David LeJeune

Background

David LeJeune represents District 1 — the Scott and Duson areas — and serves as Vice-President of the Lafayette Parish School Board. A retired public-school educator, he won the seat in 2023 with 72% of the vote.

LeJeune spent his career in Acadiana classrooms and athletics. He earned a degree in health and physical education from UL Lafayette in 1987, taught and coached football, baseball, basketball, and track across Vermilion, Acadia, and Lafayette parishes, became an assistant principal at Comeaux High in 2002, and served as principal of Acadiana High School from 2012 until retiring in 2021. He has pointed to aging school buildings and teacher recruitment and retention as the district's top challenges.
