Background

Donald Richard has represented Lafayette Parish Council District 2 since January 2024, succeeding term-limited incumbent Kevin Naquin. A lifelong resident of Scott, Louisiana, Richard is a native of Lafayette Parish.

Professionally, Richard has worked in commercial insurance sales at Stiel Insurance of Acadiana for more than 26 years. He holds a degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and carries industry credentials including Associate of Risk Management and Certified Insurance Consultant designations.

Richard is active in his community, serving as Secretary of the Mid-Winter Fair Association, a nonprofit that supports the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and 4-H programs, and as a board member of the Acadiana District Livestock Show. He previously served on the Lafayette Parish Waterworks District North Board of Commissioners. He is married to Karla Richard and has one daughter, Logan.
