Elroy Broussard

Background

Elroy Broussard has represented Lafayette City Council District 1 since January 2024. A lifelong Lafayette resident, he brings decades of civic experience to the role.

Before joining the City Council, Broussard served nine years as the District 3 representative on the Lafayette Parish School Board, where he contributed to the development of the Truman Early Childhood Education Center. He also served 12 years on the Lafayette Board of Zoning Adjustment. Professionally, he retired from Oil Center Research after 41 years of service.

Broussard has emphasized revitalizing the north side of Lafayette and preserving the area's history as the city grows. He is married to Cheryl and has three sons, one daughter, 15 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
